Tel Aviv. The City. The University

Dear Governors and Friends,

Against the background of the global economic crisis, Israel's institutions of higher learning - ours among them - are facing dire financial challenges. While we had hoped that the government would restore to the universities its budget cuts, we now face further painful cutbacks. More than ever, we need our friends by our side. Yet, despite the strains, stresses and controversies, Tel Aviv University continues to nurture its students and to produce excellent research. I invite you to come and witness this first hand, visit labs, and meet faculty and students.

Between deliberations and planning work in committees and sessions, we will celebrate creativity with the Buchmann-Mehta Orchestra and award outstanding achievements with the Dan David Prize and honorary doctorates.

We have a wonderful university, brimming with creative energy and scientific innovation, and I am optimistic that with your help, we can keep Tel Aviv University firmly on its growth track.

Please join us at the Board of Governors meeting on the Tel Aviv University campus this spring. I am very much looking forward to seeing you.

Sincerely,
Professor Zvi Galil
President
